The James Bond Phenomena
It is said that over 50%, yes OVER 50% of the worlds population has heard of James Bond. No other movie or series of movies can even come close to that!!! In fact, I know of no other movie series' that even comes close to the number of James Bond movies, which is at 19 widely known movies, and another still possibly on the way, known currently as no more than Bond 20. One of the main things that makes James Bond such a hit is that there is an awesome mixture of mystery, cunningness, luck, and yes, the most widely known of all....The Bond WOMEN!
James Bond is known around the world. James Bond was created by the world famous writer, Ian Fleming. The name "James Bond" comes from the book entitled "Birds of the West Indies," written by James Bond. Since the death of James Bond, a new author, John Gardner, has been carrying on this phenomena. The first James Bond was Sean Connery. Since Connery, there have been several other James Bonds, which include: Roger Moore, George Lazenby, Timothy Dalton, and the current James Bond, Pierce Brosnan.
The most frequented character, other than James Bond, is his weapons supplier from "Q branch" Major Boothroyd a.k.a. "Q." He and his department have created such things for James Bond such as a special attache case full of secret compartments and various soupped-up vehicles. Desmond Lleweyn, the actor who has portrayed "Q" in EVERY movie that has ever had "Q" in it (all but 2!!) making him the most frequented actor of James Bond, about forty years!!! Alas, all good things do come to an end, and so has Q's very awesome reign. John Cleese sure does have some really huge shoes to fill! But I wish him the best of luck!
